Lard

Most Irish people aren't Irish.

The Irish will do anything for their country except live in it.

Or be born in it.

Tunbridge Wells (Royal) has many notable sons and daughters, the two most likely are the cricketer, David Gower and Pogues front man Shane MacGowan! That’s right, the hellraiser lead singer is not one bit Irish, he’s from Sunny Tunny!

However, my particular favourite has to be the incomparable Ballard Berkeley, best known for playing The Major in Fawlty Towers.

Doesn’t seem to ever get mentioned that Ronnie O’Sullivan spent the best part of his childhood in Ilford. Used to live off of The Drive (St Andrews Road).

Was in my year at primary school (Highlands) and he then went to Wanstead Senior school

I’ve heard he’s recently bought and refurbished a house to live in near the Churchill statue in Woodford.

Lived my first 21 years in the same road that Steve Davis grew up in. Went to my Primary school too I believe.

The snooker player, not the shit Fulham midfielder.

Born in Barking so Bobby Moore has to top the list. In fact, I went to the same Junior School as him and was taught by the teacher who ran the school team and taught him as well.

Also, when on a bus to see my girlfriend in Dagenham, that Sir Alf Ramsay chap (not the famous WHO poster!) was on the bus as well. Would have been about 1970-71.

Trunds - Yea he went off the radar, which was a bit of a shame as he would probably be a good pundit, but old age did start to kick in with him early though I think. He was living in Spain and was involved in a top end hotel, but think he's fully retired now back in the UK.
